A staff, a stone and a slingshot

Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.  I Samuel  17:40 NLT

In the book, What’s really holding you back, best selling author Valerie Burton states that David recognized three things when he decided to fight the Philistine giant, Goliath.

1) David recognized that if God was on his side, he needed nothing more than the abilities  God had already placed in him.

2) David recognized the value of his own unique experiences in defeating Goliath.

3) David was confident approaching Goliath because his past experiences had prepared him for the task.

Aspiring writer, as you prepare to write for publication, be sure to take inventory of what you already possess. As you evaluate the skills,  training, and unique life experiences you already bring to the table as a writer, you may find you are already prepared to begin writing for publication and to conquer any giant you face.
