I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalms 32:8, NLT
I fly out this afternoon for a writing conference. But it isn’t just any writing conference, but one of the biggest conferences in the country for Christian writers. And since it is a huge conference, needless to say there will be tons of workshops offered to attend. On top of that, a number of Christian agents and publishers will be on hand to meet with aspiring authors, and listen to them pitch their book ideas.
Knowing this, I realize it’s important that I not just attend this conference, but that I attend with a purpose. So I’ve prayed for guidance, read my conference brochure from top to bottom, and highlighted each workshop I plan to attend. I’ve also read over the needs of each agent or publisher who will be in attendance, and have set up appointments to talk with those who have editorial needs I might be able to fulfill.
Christian writer, are you planning to attend a writing conference this summer? Then don’t just go – go with a purpose!

Writer’s prayer: Lord, show me what my purpose is for each writing conference that I attend. Amen.
Writer to writer: Have you planned your strategy for the writing conference you are planning to attend? What are you hoping to accomplish while there? Post your comments on my blog.
