Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. Habakkuk 2:3, NLT
Sometimes like the turtle in the popular children’s story, The Turtle and the Hare, I feel like I’m moving too slowly on the road to becoming a professional Christian writer and speaker. It has been over ten years since I began my journey, and as I see others passing me by on the road to publication success, I wonder, am I moving to slowly? Should I have more books published and more speaking engagements under my belt by now?
However, the children’s story is a great reminder that no matter how long it took, the turtle finished the race. Slowly and steadily, he crept along, not worried by what the rabbit said or did, until he reached the finish line.
At times it will seem like others are moving faster than you are on your journey of writing for publication. You may even criticize yourself because you are not as far along as you think you should be. Nevertheless, as you take time developing your craft, exploring the markets for your work, and writing the best manuscript you can, slowly and steadily, the time will come when you will reach the finish line. So keep moving, whatever your progress, because slow and steady wins the race!
Sharing the journey,

Writer’s Prayer: Dear Lord, no matter how long it takes me to cross over the finish line of publication, help me to keep trusting, keep believing and keep moving.
SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE
It is so funny that you should say slow and steady wins the race, I just told my one of my higher-ups the same thing. (that I was a turtle) she said remember the commercial about the turtle. I told her oh yes, I believe the turtle got hit but I told her that I have nine lives. So I would still have 8 more to go. lol 🙂
The race is not given to swift or to the strong but it is to the one who endures and carries on.
