OVERCOMING YOUR FEARS AS A WRITER

God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love, and self-discipline. II Timothy 1:7, NLT.

I have an opportunity to participate in a contest to win money to fund my writing ministry.  But I’ve delayed registering for the contest because my fears keep getting in the way.

As Timothy begin his ministry as a young Pastor, he experienced the emotion of fear.  But the apostle Paul reminded Timothy not to allow his fear to get in the way of pursuing the calling God had given him. Instead, he encouraged Timothy to overcome his fear by using the inner qualities God had given him of power, love and a sound mind.

Like Timothy, you will experience the emotion of fear as you pursue your calling as a Christian writer.  For example, you may fear if you are a capable writer, you may fear rejection of your writing, and you may even fear success from your writing.  When the spirit of fear overwhelms you as you pursue your writing ministry, don’t forget you have another spirit residing within – the holy spirit.  As you tap into this inner power that God has given you, you’ll find you’re able to overcome any fear.

Sharing the journey,

Jeaninne

Writer’s prayer: Heavenly father, thank you for the power of the holy spirit which helps me to overcome my writing fears. Amen.
