THREE REASONS FOR THE THORN

II Corinthians 12: 8-9

Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.

Ever since I began my journey to write for Christian publication, I’ve encountered some type of problem. And many times I’ve asked God  to remove the problem so I could focus on the calling he had given me.  But ten years have come and gone and my problem still remains.

Paul also had an ongoing problem in his life – a “thorn in his flesh,” as he defined it.  And  three times he asked God to remove his thorn.  But each time, God said no, because he was using Paul’s thorn to accomplish  three things in his life:

He wanted to  keep Paul humble,

He wanted to  remind Paul of his need for constant  contact with Him,

He wanted  Paul’s thorn to benefit those around him as they saw

God at work in his life.

Is there a “thorn”  in your life you’ve asked God to remove over and over on your journey to become a Christian writer, but he keeps saying no to your request? Maybe it’s because he has not one, but three reasons for your thorn.  As God uses the thorn to help you become the writer he has called you to be,  he promises to give you everything you need to endure.

Sharing the writing journey,

Jeaninne
